Tasmania's rock lobster industry facing tough times


Tasmania's rock lobster industry is going through unsettling times, catches are down and quotas have been cut in some of the state's traditional fishing grounds.
Depleted fishing grounds and pests are posing some big challenges for the industry.
These issues are playing on the mind of lobster fisherman Squizzy Taylor, but at the moment things are going well for him - the price of lobster has risen to $100 per kilogram.

It is an unprecedented autumn price but Chinese demand has inexplicably driven it up.
"At $100 a kilo we do have the drive. While it's good you've just got to keep going," he said.
Mr Taylor has taken the 19-metre Bold Contender boat and its crew to the remote seas off Tasmania's far south-west coast.
