BLT Fish in Flatiron has transformed a summertime staple into an ostentatious crustacean construction featuring gold leaf, caviar, fancy French butter, hand-grown chives and, yes, 1¾ pounds of lobster meat.

It’s yours for $160, or $13.33 a bite.
“It’s opulent comfort food — and gilded lobster adds to the decadence,” says chef Luke Venner of the decadent dinner roll he’ll start selling this weekend. “I think of myself as stylish. People wear a Cartier watch, so I thought, ‘Why not make a gold-label lobster roll?’" Read more

This lobster  restaurant , with an adjoining seafood market, has been in operation since 1974. The DiFebo family has various seafood specials throughout the week, such as the popular $19.99 lobster nights on Mondays and Wednesdays.

The market and the restaurant also serve and sell asparagus, grown on the family's 200-acre organic New Jersey farm, when in season.

Lobster Me opens at Venetian

Lobster Me opened a new location at the Venetian late last month.
Also around town, Binion’s opened a watering hole with a western theme.

Meanwhile, a real estate office sets up shop, a new taco bar promises authentic Mexican food and two Target locations are officially shuttering.



The 947-square-foot location within the Grand Canal Shoppes at the Venetian offers menu items such as the Báhn Me, a roll with chilled lobster meat, Vietnamese ginger-lemongrass aioli and sweet pickled veggies.
Lobster Me operates a food truck as well as a location in the Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood. The Venetian location will be open from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and from 9 a.m. to midnight Friday and Saturday.

Red Lobster combo gimmick falls flat

Last-gasp Red Lobster combo gimmick falls flat

OK, so much for that experiment. Darden Restaurants Inc., owner of Red Lobster and Olive Garden, this week announced it is shutting down the six combined units of those two restaurants it has been experimenting with.

They are located in Thomasville, Waycross and Brunswick, GA; Beaufort, SC; Wilkesboro, NC, and Palm Coast FL.

The experimental venues are physically connected and shared kitchen, bar and business backroom operations, unlike side-by-side Red Lobster and Olive Garden locations such as on Wolf Road in Colonie which is a commonplace design. Continue reading

A second location of Dee Lincoln Steak & Burger Bar opened in Plano on April 25. Chef Andrew Powers has made a few additions to the menu, including lobster tacos, lobster mac and cheese, "creative" burgers such as bison and a Wagyu strip from Local Yocal. There are also adult milkshakes and a wine-by-the-glass program using an Enomatic wine system designed to keep wines at the correct temperature. It's open for dinner Monday-Saturday; lunch hours will be added in the future.

Dave’s Lobster hoping locals will enjoy its take on lobster rolls

Nestled in a corner of P.E.I.’s Founder’s Hall, a new take on an Island food staple will soon be available for tourists and Islanders alike.
Dave Hyndman’s new lobster roll shack will open May 7 - a day before the first cruise ship comes into the Charlottetown Harbour.
OK, it’s not a “shack” per se, he says, but that’s how he pictured his restaurant ever since he thought up Dave’s Lobster this past winter.
“It’s a good location,” says Hyndman, about Founder’s Hall, “But most people never really knew anything was here. It’s hiding in plain sight.” Read full article

Name of restaurant: Petrossian

The happy hour: The West Hollywood caviar emporium and cafe hosts a food-focused happy hour Monday through Friday from 4 to 7 p.m., including specials for caviar served traditionally with blinis and vodka or Prosecco, as well as small bites such as pomme frites with caviar aioli, a mini lobster roll with sea urchin and caviar, caviar burger slider and potato tart with creme fraiche and 20 grams of Transmontanus caviar. The featured drink special is the caviar martini with Akvinta Organic Vodka, dry vermouth, caviar-stuffed olive, cocktail onion and a pressed-caviar cube. Prices are $8 (for frites) to $24 for snacks and $6 to $8 for cocktails and wine specials.

Best bang for your buck: Caviar for two, with 30 grams of Transmontanus caviar, creme fraiche, blini, toast points and two glasses of La Marca Prosecco or Akvinta Organic Vodka. It's $49 (so $24.50 each), a bargain for that amount of caviar and accouterments. 

What are you drinking? Ice-cold flutes of Akvinta vodka.

Who’s at the next table? A couple engaged in a tete-a-tete over caviar and blini.

Uh-oh: You might be enticed by the lobster rolls and sliders, but stick to the simpler menu items (caviar for two, potato tart with caviar and caviar deviled eggs) to better enjoy the caviar.
Service: There's no bar per se; you'll be seated at a table. It's fancy.
