excellent lobster-shrimp bisque. But the shrimp in its $14.99 cocktail are reliably devoid of flavor ...
Chamberlain’s Steak and Chop House (2 stars)
Price: $$$ (appetizers, soups and salads $8.99 to $14.99, main courses $28.99 to $69.99, desserts $8.95)
Service: Attentive, very professional and knowledgeable about the menu, but there’s a general lack of wine expertise, and no dedicated sommeliers.
Ambience: A traditional, white-tablecloth steakhouse. The main dining room, with its view of the old-fashioned wooden bar, is the place to be; the back room feels like Siberia. The booths in both are too small and tight.
Noise level: Quiet enough for easy conversation
Location: 5330 Belt Line Road, Dallas; 972-934-2467; www.chamberlainssteakhouse.com
Hours: Monday-Friday 5 to 10 p.m., Saturday 5 to 10:30 p.m., Sunday 5 to 9 p.m.
Reservations: Accepted
Credit cards: AE, D, MC, V
Wheelchair accessible: Yes
Smoking: In the Cigar Lounge
Alcohol: Full bar. A midsize, overpriced, Calfornia-focused wine list offers few reds of interest under $100.
